子曰：“舜其大知也与！舜好问而好察迩言，隐恶而扬善，执其两端，用其中于民，其斯以为舜乎！”
白话文：
孔子说：“舜大概是有大智慧的人啊！他喜欢向人请教，又善于从浅近平常的话语中审察道理；对别人的恶行加以包容，对善行则大力宣扬；他能把握‘过’与‘不及’两种极端，采用中庸之道来治理百姓。这就是舜之所以成为舜的原因吧！”
英文：
Confucius said:"Shun was truly a man of great wisdom! He loved to inquire from others and carefully examined even the simplest words. He concealed people’s faults while promoting their virtues. By grasping the extremes of excess and deficiency, he applied the Doctrine of the Mean to govern the people. This is why he became the Sage Emperor Shun!"
