中庸第二十六章 Doctrine of the Mean Chapter Twenty-six

原文：
故至诚无息。
不息则久，久则征。
征则悠远。悠远，则博厚。博厚，则高明。
博厚，所以载物也。高明，所以覆物也。悠久，所以成物也。
博厚，配地。高明，配天。悠久，无疆。
如此者，不见而章，不动而变，无为而成。
天地之道，可一言而尽也。其为物不贰，则其生物不测。
天地之道，博也、厚也、高也、明也、悠也、久也。
今夫天斯昭昭之多，及其无穷也，日月星辰系焉，万物覆焉。今夫地，一撮土之多，及其广厚，载华岳而不重，振河海而不泄，万物载焉。今夫山一卷石之多，及其广大，草木生之，禽兽居之，宝藏兴焉。今夫水，一勺之多，及其不测，鼋、鼍、蛟、龙、鱼、鳖生焉，货财殖焉。
诗云，“维天之命，於穆不已。”盖曰，天之所以为天也。“於乎不显，文王之德之纯。”盖曰，文王之所以为文也。纯亦不已。

白话文：
至诚的至高境界永不止息。
不止息便能长久，长久便能显现效验。
显现效验便能深远无穷，深远无穷便能广博深厚，广博深厚便能高大光明。
广博深厚足以承载万物，高大光明足以覆盖万物，悠远长久足以生成万物。
广博深厚与大地相配，高大光明与苍天相配，悠远长久则永无穷尽。
达到这样的境界，无需刻意彰显自然昭著，无需行动自然变化，无所作为自然成就。​​
天地运行的规律，可用一个“诚”字概括：因其纯粹专一，故能化生万物而不可测度。
天地的法则，就是广博、深厚、高大、光明、悠远、长久。​​
​​此刻的天，看似只是一点微光，但其整体无穷无尽，日月星辰悬挂其间，万物被其覆盖；此刻的地，看似只是一撮泥土，但其整体广博深厚，承载华山而不觉其重，容纳江海而不泄漏，万物被其承载；此刻的山，看似只是一块小石，但其整体高大广阔，草木生长其上，禽兽栖居其中，宝藏蕴藏其内。
此刻的水，看似只是一勺之量，但其整体深不可测，鼋鼍蛟龙鱼鳖生于其中，财富由此繁衍。​​
​​《诗经》说：“天道运行，庄严肃穆永不停息！”这正是天之所以为天的本质。“文王德行的纯粹何其光明！”这正是文王被称为“文”的原因——其纯粹之德永无止境。​

The ultimate sincerity is ceaseless.
Ceaselessness leads to endurance; endurance brings manifestation.
Manifestation extends to boundlessness; boundlessness becomes vast and deep; vastness and depth culminate in loftiness and brilliance.
The vast and deep can bear all things; the lofty and brilliant can cover all things; the enduring and boundless can complete all things.
Vastness and depth mirror the earth; loftiness and brilliance mirror the heavens; endurance and boundlessness transcend time.
Thus, such virtue shines without display, transforms without motion, and achieves without striving.​​
The Way of Heaven and Earth can be summed in one word: "sincerity" . Through its single-mindedness, it generates all things unfathomably.
The Way manifests as vastness, depth, loftiness, brilliance, boundlessness, and endurance.​​
Consider the sky: what begins as a glimmer expands into infinity, suspending sun, moon, and stars while enveloping all beings. Consider the earth: a handful of soil grows into immensity, bearing mountains without strain and holding oceans without spillage. Consider the mountain: a mere stone expands into grandeur, nurturing plants, sheltering beasts, and yielding treasures.
Consider the water: a single ladle swells into unfathomable depths, breeding turtles, dragons, fish, and wealth.​​
The Book of Songs declares: "How mighty is the ordinance of Heaven, solemn and unceasing!" This is why Heaven is Heaven. "How resplendent was King Wen's pure virtue!" This is why King Wen was called "Wen"  — for his purity knew no end.​
